Snapshots of My Dream Weekend

Unlike all other weekends, this wasn't given away at the altars of philosophy. It had a ring about it, a ring that I had stopped craving long ago. Earlier, the anguish would tear my heart out: When would a weekend be something that I would look forward to; not doing my laundry or arranging books, but one that would be spent shopping, hanging out at posh restaurants - a dream which every earning bachelor has a right to dream. But, all I could think of with my limited means is to gorge on food at a nearby hotel, entertain my flat mates with frivolous talk and then bury my head into a book and the weekend would just pass by. But, yesterday, I was available neither to my roomies nor to my books.

I was busy shopping! I was at a Reebok store purchasing a pair of jeans. To prolong this shopping experience I went around the store. After two trials with waistline 32 and waistline 34, I settled for W-32. It was ages since I had bought a piece of clothing for myself. Next, I was at Adidas; although, I had run out of my budget with the first purchase. I trusted my companion for his timely help. I spotted a wallet, quite trendy and I had reasons to buy it: being a vegetarian, it doesn't behove me to carry a leather purse. I transferred all the cash into my new purse.

On our way, we dropped by a coffee shop in the most happening part of Pune known for its multi-national crowd. We had to wait very long before some sexy chicks, with their boyfriends, appeared on the scene. We grinned and smirked watching couples engage in histrionic acts of love. I felt stupid having quit smoking when girls around puffed away to glory. I was short on making a smoking statement! Soon, there were only couples around and we were misfits hanging there. They had all come to pay fat bills unlike us who read the menu card from right to left, moving from price to cuisine. Moreover, we had finished our grub. We checked out looking hungrily at the girls for the last time.

I was in high spirits, so I went on an eve teasing rampage. It was safe to do this while riding on a bike. But, girls, these days, eat such behaviour for breakfast. Anyways, my fetish for waxed and shapely legs was satisfied. A pair of legs particularly held our attention. We parked our bike and crossed the lass standing on those bonny legs twice. Oh, those succulent ones still 'flash upon that inward eye, Which is the bliss of solitude'.

My companion was hell bent on adding the icing on the cake. We bought movie tickets for Rambo-4 at Gold Adlabs. Movies have little attraction for me and shelling Rs.150 for a ticket literally sank my heart. But, as a tribute to a wonderful weekend, I gave in to his insistence. It was an action-packed movie with lot of blood spill, deafening gun-shots and a flaccid story line up.

We drove back home in the chill of the night and got under the duvets and slept happily!

Hi Amit,
It is nice to have a weekend spent the way you want it. I have been planning my weekend for a long time. By long time I mean a real long time, could be around 4-5 years. I wish to spend an entire weekend if possible a couple of days over that weekend on a beach. I remember the last time I visited a beach that was at Alibaug. I always dreamed of a weekend with my girl-friend on a beach. Wow the very thought is pleasurable. Wide open beaches with beautiful girls around, a beer mug and the waves. I think soon my dream will come true.
